Former Green Bay quarterback DeShone Kizer has opened up about his bizarre first interaction with Aaron Rodgers during their time together with the Packers.
In an extensive interview with Adam Breneman, Kizer said Rodgers brought up 9/11 out of the blue. It’s not the first time the back-to-back MVP has had abstract thoughts.
Kizer spent the 2018 season in Green Bay with the four-time Super Bowl champion and has since announced the time he first spoke to Aaron Rodgers.
DeShone Kizer was a member of the Green Bay Packers during the difficult 2018 NFL season
“He closed the door, and the first thing that came out of Aaron Rodger’s mouth was, ‘Do you believe in 9/11?'” Kizer recalled.
“What, do I believe in 9/11? Yes, why shouldn’t I?’ he answered.
“He (Rodgers) said, ‘You should read that,’ and then we just start learning about the playbook, and I said, ‘Wow, I don’t know where this is going,'” Kizer continued.
Ultimately, Kizer seemed to think Rodgers was testing his younger contemporary to see if he could be cognitively challenged. This led to a deeper bond between the star and his understudy.
Aaron Rodgers is often known for having differing theories on a range of current issues
“It ended up being a thought experiment where he wanted me to go back and examine some of the conspiracies around him,” Kizer added.
“We really bonded about that and started sharing some books and we started talking about other things. Some history, some business, some finance.”
Kizer’s only season was an unsuccessful one for Green Bay, who failed to make the playoffs as longtime head coach Mike McCarthy did
