The “red line” drawn between the US and Russian militaries at the start of the Moscow war against Ukraine was used only once. A senior US official reported this to Portal, stating that it was Washington that used the hotline to “start a decal”.
It’s not clear which episode triggered the alarm, but the official ruled out it was a missile crash in Poland on November 15. According to other sources, operations by Russian armed forces against critical infrastructure such as the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant were more likely.
