Is that Robert Duvall Appointment

“Is that Robert Duvall?” – Appointment

Rudy Giuliani was finally exposed on The Masked Singer.

“It surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer,” host Nick Cannon said when Donald Trump’s former attorney was revealed to be Jack in the Box on Wednesday’s episode.

“I definitely never would have thought that,” added judge Robin Thicke.

There has been much controversy surrounding Giuliani’s appearance on the Fox reality competition series after his participation was first announced by Deadline in February.

The show’s reaction to the man who helped Trump peddle his unsubstantiated claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen was interesting.

There were genuine gasps and shocked looks from the audience, as well as a stunned Cannon as the mask was removed, and Judge Ken Jeong immediately folded his arms.

Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger looked confused and asked Jeong, “Is that Robert Duvall?” a reference to Thicke’s earlier suspicion. After answering her in hushed tones that it is indeed not the star of The Godfather and The Judge, Jeong quietly walked down the steps from the stage.

While Thicke is said to have followed him to check on his friend, this was not shown on the Fox show where Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy danced and had a great time. McCarthy thanked Giuliani for appearing – he was apparently doing the show for his granddaughter – and said she was “so glad” he showed up.

The episode was titled “Don’t Mask, Don’t Tell” and was quite flashy for a Republican figure like Giuliani, although, to be fair, the former mayor of New York was critical of the politics of the time.

Giuliani sang “Bad To The Bone” by George Thorogood & the Destroyers, a song with the lyrics “I’ll make a rich woman beg… I’ll make a good woman steal” before he was kicked off the show.

There were some references to the Jack-in-the-Box character at the beginning of the episode, highlighting that he was feeling “impulsive” and a nod to the Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference. “I get pigeonholed a lot,” Giuliani said.

“It can’t get any worse,” Thicke said after hearing Giuliani sing.

The Masked Singer, whose season is titled The Good, The Bad and the Cuddly, is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment with former BBC executive Moira Ross as showrunner. She produces with Craig Plestis and Nick Cannon.
