Ukraine: Photo of Banksy cropped from wall at home

In Ukraine, shortly after its creation, a painting by street artist Banksy was cut from the wall by criminals.

In the Kiev suburb of Hostomel, police officers arrested a group of eight people aged between 27 and 60, Kyiv Region Police Chief Andriy Nebytov said on Friday. A photo of a woman in a bathrobe with curlers and a gas mask was confiscated at the scene.

The organizer is a Kiev native born in 1990. A motive was not initially known. Police acted after a call from neighbors. They watched the photo being cut out of the thermal insulation.

The Ministry of Culture has already been called to decide on the future destination of the image.

In November, it became known that the mysterious British artist Banksy left several works in the Russian suburbs of Kyiv, affected by the war, and in the Ukrainian capital itself. Russia invaded Ukraine at the end of February.
