A giant python swallows a duck in a Miami Dade canal

residents of the town of Doral, in Miami-DadeThey are concerned after video of a giant Burmese python swallowing a duck after it was suffocated in water from a canal went viral in recent hours.

“It’s a python, oof, oh, poor duck!”The woman can be heard saying she was a direct witness to the incident and filmed the images, which have gone viral via the popular Only in Dade Instagram account.

“Look at that, in Ricardo’s courtyard”added the woman in the shoot.

“Remind me not to go to Ricardo’s house,” one netizen jokingly commented, referring to the fact that the incident occurred in the water of a canal near 114th Avenue between the gated communities of Barbados and St. Lucia.

According to the City of Doral authorities The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is aware and will take care of the animal.

However, residents are concerned about the threat the giant reptile poses to neighborhood pets and even children.

Pythons are invasive species that were brought to the United States as exotic pets in the 1980s. Authorities believe this fast-breeding species of snake came to the Everglades after it was intentionally — or unintentionally — released by people who kept them as pets in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew swept through Florida.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, state residents can safely kill pythons found on private property without a permit.

In recent years, pythons have damaged some areas of the Everglades where the population of mammals such as field mice, weasels, raccoons or rabbits has declined by up to 99%.

It is estimated that there could be more than 150,000 pythons in the vast South Florida wetland.
