The 31-year-old donned her full uniform and took part in some skating practice. However, he spared his wrist during this session.
“Happy to get back into skating,” Kane wrote on his Twitter account in response to a video of him released by the Oilers.
On November 8, in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Kane fell onto the ice and accidentally hit his opponent’s wrist with his skate blade while passing by Pat Maroon, seriously injuring him. In the sequence, Kane immediately stood up and retreated to the locker room, visibly panicked as bloodstains were visible on the icy surface. The member of the Alberta formation was operated on the same evening.
His presence on the ice is all the more encouraging as he told CBC Sports Network’s Scott Oake on November 19 that he still has no feeling in the thumb of his injured hand.
Despite these recent advances, the Oilers are unlikely to be able to count on their attacker’s contribution for several more months after initially hinting he would be out for three to four months.
