Man in China allegedly refuses to go to quarantine facility; dragged out of the house

A man in China has been forcibly removed from his home after allegedly refusing to go to a COVID-19 quarantine facility.

In video released Friday by CNN, two men in white hazmat suits were seen inside a home trying to drag a man off a living room couch. The man who was screaming during the situation tried to get away from the two men while grabbing the couch.

The situation occurred on November 30 in the eastern city of Hangzhou, southwest of Shanghai.

“He has been identified as a ‘close contact’ of a person who tested positive for COVID-19,” read the video’s onscreen caption, citing the Linping County Government as a source.

“Authorities also said they reprimanded and cleared up the relevant individuals,” the video’s onscreen caption continued.

People took to social media to show their disapproval of the situation, with many calling out China’s apparent approach to dealing with the coronavirus and pursuing a “zero-COVID” policy.

“They don’t play,” wrote one Instagram user.

“Something is wrong with their quarantine which he is denying,” one person added, while another responded, saying, “Exactly what I was thinking. Seems terribly scared.”

“D—n, and people in the US are complaining about wearing a mask,” someone wrote.

“This will start a revolution, that’s for sure,” shared another.

“They will eventually make it worse and cause what they are trying to prevent. Mediation might help,” one person added.

“But they are already in quarantine in their homes under their strict COVID lockdown rules,” wondered another.

China has seen unprecedented protests against its strict “zero-COVID” policy in recent days, with many people in other countries – such as Japan and Germany – showing their support with their own demonstrations.

More than two years after the COVID-19 pandemic, tens of millions of people in China remain under strict lockdown due to policies aimed at eradicating the virus completely.

Dramatic protests in China’s major cities like Beijing, Zhengzhou and Shanghai have forced the government to ease some of its COVID-19 restrictions in some parts of the country.
