Snickers ended rumors that suggested they had “deveined” their beloved candy bars from their famous X-rated trait.

On Tuesday, the company responded to rumors that its candy bars would no longer have swirls running down the bars. Throughout the year, the chocolate swirls have sparked jokes about how they look like male anatomy.

Since Snickers shut down the rumour, his tweet has gone viral with 23,000 retweets and 173,000 likes.

The wild rumor began in April after another Mars-owned company, M&M’s, announced in January its plan to give its iconic characters a makeover to promote a “more dynamic and progressive world”.

The green and brown M&M makeovers in particular sparked online conversations. The green M&M character swapped her sexy white heels for “cool, relaxed sneakers to show off her effortless confidence” and the brown M&M stilettos were cropped.

That change prompted people on social media to joke that other candy companies needed to be desexualized — including the Snickers bar so it no longer resembles a penis.

An image of an unusually slick Snickers bar emerged, sending fans into a frenzy. One tweeted, “This just doesn’t look right.” Another said, “The vein gives the bar an identity.”

However, the Mars brand was quick to quash false rumours, telling Twitter, “Good news, contrary to what’s trending on Twitter… THE VEINS REMAIN!”

From then on, several companies joined in the fun.
