US Senator Bob Menendez tweets happy message to Gregg Berhalter’s team AFTER they lose World Cup Round of 16 match to Holland – with fans saying the social media manager was confused morning and night!
US Senator Bob Menendez’s Twitter account was late to USA’s World Cup Round of 16 match against Holland on Saturday, as a lucky message was sent out more than 11 hours after kick-off.
Gregg Berhalter’s team were beaten 3-1 by Holland in the knockout stages of the Qatar tournament, with play starting at 10:00am ET.
Goals from Memphis Depay, Daley Blind and Denzel Dumfries sent America home with broken USA hearts by midday.
But the result didn’t seem to get through to those running Menendez’s Twitter profile, as a post in support of the USMNT was sent out at 9:15 p.m. Saturday night.
The upload read: “Once again, I wish @USMNT the best of luck in today’s FIFA World Cup match against the Netherlands. Let’s keep the momentum going.’

Other social media users pointed out that the error was due to tweet scheduling, and those responsible for the account mixed up their times.
