The Universitario de Deportes’ 2023 season will be marked by a radical change compared to the squad the student club had in 2022. Several players left the Sahne squad in the recent transfer market, including winger Alberto Quintero.
‘Chiquitín”s departure sparked debate among ‘U’ fans, as some felt his status as a reference should have been valued to keep him on the team. Others, however, were happy with his departure and even one sector brought up inappropriate behavior the player would have had towards his former teammates.
“In the inmate he had problems with Quispe. Piero Quispe has been mistreated more than once. Piero was quiet, humble and the one who stood up for him was (Alex) Valera,” said Twitter user Gustavo Serpa, host of the Radio U 1924 fan show.
“The one who stood up for the abused young footballers was Valera. The one who put the ‘stop’ to Quintero was Valera. And at some point Quispe also learned to defend himself, but it wasn’t like that at the beginning,” added the spokesman for the digital space.
Alberto Quintero will play in Cienciano
Shortly after confirming he would not remain at the ‘U’, Quintero was announced as a signing from Cienciano del Cusco. “Papa” took advantage of the fact that “Chiquitín” would no longer hold a position as a foreigner, since he had officially received Peruvian citizenship a few weeks ago.
