Strict fans furious as BBC1 show is pushed AGAIN to Sunday and Monday to make way for the World Cup

Strictly Come Dancing fans are furious after the show was moved from its usual Saturday night slot to make way for the World Cup.

Next week’s semifinals will take place on Sunday 11th December at 7:15pm, Strictly results will be shown on Monday 12th December at 8:15pm.

The switch was made to allow the World Cup quarter-finals to be broadcast on BBC1 instead.

The Netherlands vs Argentina football match kicks off at 7pm, which means Strictly fans will have to wait an extra day to watch the semi-finals.

And viewers aren’t happy about the schedule change, complaining on social media.

One said: “I want to complain! Is there a petition I can sign? @BBCOne is rushing through #strict this year to allow football to take over the airwaves. It looks like the judges can’t be bothered either. Put football on BBC2.’

Another agreed, writing: “Who am I supposed to complain to about @bbcstrictly next week being Sunday instead of Saturday?! Tonight all shows will be repeated on @BBCTwo – probably like this again next week. Put the football there and leave #Strictly alone!’

A third reiterated: “If football needs to be on BBC1 then why not put @bbcstrictly on BBC2 on Saturday nights? However, it is the great lineup of the semifinals for next week.

“Planners get an A for this series from #Strictly @BBCOne @BBCTwo @bbcPoV, we want answers!”

And a fourth tweeted: “BBC made a huge mistake rescheduling #Strictly. First until Friday/Saturday and now until Sunday/Monday. Golden Rule of TV: Never mess with your most-watched show. Easily move football to BBC2/3/4/red button/iPlayer. Enough options there. Prioritizing Arge v Oz is unjustifiable.”

It comes after Molly Rainford made it into next week’s Strictly semifinals after dancing off against Kym Marsh, who was voted off the show on Saturday.

On Friday’s live show, Kym ended up bottom of the leaderboard as she returned to the dance floor after being forced to miss last week’s show due to a positive Covid test.

Kym received enthusiastic feedback from the Musicals Week judges but still found herself with worse grades than her peers, scoring 34 points – with two nines from Motsi and Shirley.

And following the public vote, Kym and her professional partner Graziano Di Prima finished in the final two alongside Molly, performing the Cha Cha to Musical Fame to stay in the competition.

Molly and Carlos also performed for a second performance of their Charleston to Hot Honey Rag from the musical Chicago.

However, the judges selected Molly and Carlos for the semifinals after she placed second with 38 points on Friday’s live show.

After both couples danced for the second time, Craig Revel Horwood announced his verdict, sending Molly and Carlos to next week’s live show.

He said: “It’s always so difficult at this point in the competition because both couples danced brilliantly, I don’t want both couples to go.

“I’m really splitting hairs, but the couple I want to save based on best dance tonight for me is Molly and Carlos.”

Motsi Mabuse then gave another vote for Molly and Carlos, saying: “First of all I want to say to you both that you can be so proud of yourselves. You were both so great and amazing. I’ll base my decision on this dance and save Molly and Carlos.”

But Anton Du Beke then saved Kym and Graziano and gave Chief Justice Shirley Ballas the deciding vote.

He stated his verdict: “As you would expect at this point in the competition, the quality of the dancing was incredible. I thought both couples danced brilliantly but I felt one couple upped their game with a freedom they didn’t have to Friday night and that’s why I’m going to save Kym and Graziano.’

Casting the deciding vote, Chief Justice Shirley then decided to save Molly and Carlos, meaning it was Kym and Graziano who were sent home.

She said: “Well first of all congratulations to both couples. Both couples danced excellently, it was a very difficult decision. But based on this dance and only this dance, I will save Molly and Carlos.”
