These oddities about Wandinha will intrigue you

Find out why Wandinha doesn’t blink in the new Netflix series

The spinoff series of The Addams Family, Wandinha, centers on the title character, daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams, who must face new adventures and threats.

The production was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and is directed by the distinctive Tim Burton🇧🇷

One of the highlights of the narrative is the strong and dark personality of Wandinha (Jenna Ortega), always full of oddly macabre and comical lines.

However, there’s another aspect of the character that caught fans’ attention: Did you notice that Wandinha almost never blinks?

The explanation for this is very interesting and Netflix itself killed viewers’ curiosity via Twitter.

According to the streaming giant, Wandinha’s protagonist’s serious and unflinching gaze was Burton’s own choice. See original post:

After trying a shot that didn’t leave her blinking, Tim Burton was so enamored with the result that he told Jenna Ortega to stop blinking on Wednesday. So she didn’t. pic.twitter.com/h5Ver9oozC

In translation: “After Tim Burton attempted a shot where she didn’t blink, he was thrilled with the result and told Jenna Ortega to stop blinking when she played Wandinha. Then she stopped blinking.

The choice turns out to be quite selfconfident when we realize how Ortega’s gaze becomes even more penetrating and frightening in this way, without blinking or making many movements.

The feature only reinforces Wandinha’s darker vibes, setting a very smart move by Burton, who understands a little thing or two about darker elements.

Still on with Wandinha’s creative choices, the actress revealed she didn’t want to turn to Christina Ricci (the character’s first onscreen interpreter) for advice.

“I felt like I didn’t want to do anything she did 30 years ago. For my own benefit, but otherwise I didn’t want to copy her and I didn’t want to look too much like her,” the actress said in an interview.

Let’s face it, sometimes the fact that the character doesn’t blink causes a lot of torment, and if you haven’t checked the series, it’s already available in the catalog from Netflix🇧🇷
