‘It’s okay to want pleasure’: Emma Corrin says filming the intimate scenes in the notoriously racy film Lady Chatterley’s Lover was ’empowering’ and ‘really beautiful’.
They have taken on the lead actress of the same name in the new drama Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
And Emma Corrin, 26, described the sex scenes in the film as “really beautiful” because they touched on the barrier-breaking nature of the film, which shows a woman in control of her sexuality.
The Crown star, who identifies as non-binary and uses the pronouns ‘they/they’, also addressed the empowering nature of the film – explaining that it shows ‘that it’s okay for women to indulge want”.

Based on the 1928 novel by English author DH Lawrence, the film is notorious for its explicit descriptions of sex, its use of four-letter words, and its depiction of a relationship between an upper-class woman and a working-class man.
The uncensored version was then notoriously banned in the UK for its racy nature.
Emma, who plays Lady Constance “Connie” Chatterley, stars in the film alongside Jack O’Connell, who portrays Oliver Mellors.

Speaking to People about the power the film empowers women, they explained, “One journey a lot of women go on is finding that power in their sexuality and knowing that it’s okay to want pleasure and then to strive.
“And for that to be a really powerful and beautiful thing and not something that you don’t have to acknowledge at all or feel bad or ashamed of.”
Emma continued that the sex scenes were “a really beautiful thing” and empowered the actors and the audience.

“I really loved the way the story focused on female pleasure and sex,” they told The Times of the intimate scenes.
The film features full frontal nudity for both leads, which Jack adds, “was definitely a campaign for some form of equality.”
Last week, Emma took to Instagram to give fans a glimpse into the making of the Netflix film – posting a hilarious behind-the-scenes snap on set in a hairnet and gown.
And joked about the racy nature of the film, captioning a snap: “Any children conceived after watching this film must be named Emma.”
