Nicolas Prattes dedicated his precious lunch break to this interview for Canal. Thrilled by the success of Diego, one of the most celebrated characters in “All the Flowers”, the actor divides between his private life, physical activities, many hours of recording and promotion of other works (like the movie “Pronto, I Spoke” which opens next Thursday hitting theaters). All this without distracting you from the work of João Emanuel Carneiro. So much so that the flowers in the novel’s title ended up on Nicolas’ clothes during rehearsals for this feature. The return of so much dedication comes for the 25yearold, who got his start on TV when he was just 3 years old on ‘Terra nostra’.
— I had never received so much affection so quickly — says the man from Niteroi, who often shares the messages he receives on social networks, thanking him for the compliments.

In the storyline, originally for Globoplay, it seems that nothing in Diego’s life is so bad that it can’t get any worse. And although he was intensely prepared to experience episodes such as evictions, theft, an unfair arrest and more condensed situations in fiction, Nicolas’ own message box acts as a laboratory for the work, reinforcing something the actor himself usually punctuates. :
— I see a lot of people saying: “It happens every day”, “I’ve been through it”, for example about evictions. I have received many messages like this from people who have identified themselves. And I always answer because it’s a very intimate thing for the person, right?
The actor admits that he never lived through the extreme situations that Diego goes through, but that’s exactly what enchanted him in the role.
— The further away the better, because the challenge becomes greater — he explains, pointing out that there is, however, a strong trait in the history of both that binds them together: — The family base. Just like him, I do everything for my family. We approach in this love, in respect for those who created us.

Like Diego, Nicolas has younger brothers. Sisters actually: two on the father’s side and one on the mother’s side. And found strength in the family unit to cope with a great loss in the last year of the maternal grandmother, Dona Maria:
— When someone so close dies, it is the union that creates strength. That even strengthens us later. These are moments that make us mature and Diego is full of them. And I’m not just talking about what you’ve seen so far. The second phase (scheduled for the first half of 2023) will have at least three times more excitement, action and twists than the first, which will now end in December. It will be high voltage.
After suffering so many blows in life and wronging himself and his family, Diego seeks revenge. However, his interpreter prefers to see things as learning rather than suffering, no matter how difficult the situation.
— Because Diego was raised with so much love and honesty, it makes him naïve about the real world. I think we have to be disappointed in some people to understand a little more about the defense mechanisms we need in life, including for the sake of mental health and survival says Nicolas, putting himself in the character’s place, he says: — If someone would do that to my family, I certainly wouldn’t forget it either.

no shame
To exact the revenge that is consuming him, Diego Samsa (Ângelo Antônio) joins in and embraces the idea of seducing the women in the life of his tormentor Luis Felipe (Cássio Gabus Mendes). Besides kissing Joy (Yara Charry), the rich man’s daughter, the boy in prison also gets involved and even has sex on several occasions with Lila (Naruna Costa), the young woman’s mother and the wife of Rhodes’ heir. Behind the camera, the hottest scenes don’t intimidate Nicolas.
— It’s peaceful, almost a dance, a choreography. And in the end it looks beautiful. Of course, you’ll have to converse with the directors as well as the crew and cast. Carlos Araújo, our director, held a few meetings to make us feel safe, he also opened up to suggestions about the scene, something we wanted to improvise… So we could talk beforehand and keep everyone and everyone in line. When he came to the recording after so many discussions, we were calm again reports.
Although this is his first job alongside his costars, the actor says the intimacy between them came naturally and from the moment they met.

— I hit it off straight away, both with Naruna and Yara… And with the others too, but I can’t spoil it — he says and praises: — I’m a lucky guy. Good partnerships make the scene, I don’t do it alone. I need someone with me to pass the ball and they are great at that, they help me and I learn a lot from everyone.
In addition to the sequences with his colleagues, Nicolas has already acted in some nude scenes in “Todas as flores”, such as Diego’s first bath in Samsa’s house after his release from prison. He is also not embarrassed by the echo of the butt on social networks:
“Zero shame. In fact, a lot more has already been released, only the editing is shortening (laughs). Every scene has a why. It’s not nudity for nudity’s sake, free. And when we make the character, there are no limits. For my part, I like to imagine myself in free fall in this role. I don’t think about leaning on anything, about being shy. I like to throw up.

While Diego uses his guns to win over mother and daughter on the soap opera, the actor has no recipe for flirting in real life:
— I’m a Taurus, when I fall in love it’s real, and things happen naturally. I like to be romantic, at least I think about myself. I prepare breakfast, leave a note there… But there is no specific method.
Often referred to as a heartthrob, he’s not the type to be dazzled:
“I’m very down to earth. Very hard to believe what they say. I can say I’m fine and that’s it. But of course I will not be a hypocrite. We like to praise just as much as we like to be praised.
To maintain his body and health, Nicolas resorts to sport (he has already practiced running, surfing, soccer, boxing…), he says that he does not follow a specific diet and that he has inherited healthy habits from childhood .
— I like to stay active because I talk about my work equipment. An actor is body and voice, so we always have to be in shape. Even if he’s a bit hoarse now because of the Brazil game (laughs) — he says happily after the Brazilian victory at the opening of the World Cup in Qatar.

where do you find peace
As he navigates his ups and downs in All the Flowers, Nicolas finds the ease in his personal life that he needs to compensate for so much of the heartache and depth in fiction. A filled heart helps you to be at peace. About seven months ago, the Rio man started dating dentist Luiza Caldi.
— We’re happy — he says, who is initially living the romance on a RioSão Paulo airlift: — If I can stay there a little longer, I’ll stay. If you can stay here longer, she will too. And we do this juggling. Who wants to find out, right?!
With this success and character impact, Nicolas guarantees that there will be no room for jealousy in their relationship:
— On the contrary, she is very happy. What you really want is for them to talk because it’s a partnership, we’re very cheering. This gives the relationship a very special strength.

The dream of having your own family is on the wish list, but it doesn’t have to be for a long time. He explains:
— I can’t say it’s a priority at the moment, but it’s part of the plans. If I can be to my son or daughter 1% of what my parents were to me, I am already happy and fulfilled.
Nicolas is also in the cast of the series “Musa Música” by Globoplay and “Rio Connection”, a partnership between Globo, Floresta and Sony (both planned for 2023), alongside starring in the film “Pronto, I speak” and stabbing “All the flowers” out. Last month, one of the sets of the soap opera caught fire in the scenographic city at Estúdios Globo and fortunately no one was injured.
— It was something that for me was a miracle of God. We spend literally ten hours a day recording and that was in the seven minutes when there was no one there, it was empty, we were having lunch. Nobody had to run, desperate he says.
In addition to the acting show, after the greatest success as a little monster in second place in “The Masked Singer Brasil”, is there perhaps still a musical career ahead?
— Only in the shower (laughs) — he guarantees.
