King Charles has been seen in public for the first time since Harry and Meghan’s bombastic Netflix trailer was released as he attended a church service today.

The monarch looked thoughtful as he attended church accompanied by a friend at Royal Sandringham’s estate in Norfolk.

The king, wearing a long brown coat and elegant brown shoes, made the short walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church for the 11 a.m. service.

He was greeted outside the church by the Reverend Canon Paul Williams and they shook hands before Charles entered.

As he left, Charles was encouraged by a member of the public who shouted, “God save the king,” and he smiled and waved.

Charles has kept a low profile since a trailer for the Netflix documentary Prince Harry and Meghan was released on Thursday.

The six-part series aims to provide a glimpse into their high-profile relationship and account of royal life.

The minute-long trailer shows a series of previously unreleased photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including one of Meghan crying.

There was also a royal row this week over comments about a black guest at Buckingham Palace.

Prince William’s godmother, Lady Susan Hussey, resigned from her volunteer duties for the royal family on Wednesday after Ngozi Fulani, founder of the charity Sistah Space, described how at a reception at Buckingham Palace she was repeatedly asked where she was “from really” come.

Charles is believed to have traveled to Sandringham on Thursday accompanied by Queen Consort Camilla, who was not seen at church today. It is not known how long they will remain at their country estate.

The monarch is expected to follow in the queen’s footsteps by spending Christmas with other members of the royal family at the estate this year.
