Paragliding to Melilla: this is how the migrant managed to invade the Spanish enclave

Increasingly strange methods of crossing European borders: determined to enter Spain, a migrant He even went so far as to take to the skies to reach Spanish territory by paraglider. A unique procedure to say the least, which in any case worked perfectly since the foreign national arriving from Morocco got what he wanted.

This is the first documented case and now Spanish authorities fear another non-EU citizen could repeat the gesture.

The video that immortalizes the migrant’s performance, shot entirely by two citizens, was published by Cadena Ser and has already been circulating on the web.

According to the Spanish press, the incident happened last Thursday afternoon. After leaving Morocco, the migrant easily managed to cross the barrier at the border between the North African country and the enclave of Melilla paragliding. Two citizens who were driving in the Melilla area at the time noticed the incident and recorded everything on their cellphones. The couple also informed the Guardia Civil. However, the notification will not be served because the foreigner is currently missing. When the non-EU citizen hit the ground, he doffed his paragliding harness, took off and disappeared from radar. We don’t even know if it was a man or a woman.

Now there are growing concerns from the Spanish authorities, who fear counterfeiting. Melilla and Ceuta are enclaves on the north coast of Morocco which are the only ones European borders on African territory. The borders are well guarded, with high fences, cameras and constant security guards, however attempts to breach the barriers are repeated with great frequency. Many foreigners trying to cross the fences, also at the cost of their lives. On June 24th alone, over 23 non-EU citizens died trying to get to Melilla.
