A Place In The Sun star Jonnie Irwin has described a “hot night of pain” as he doses of painkillers amid his ongoing battle with terminal cancer.
The 49-year-old TV presenter has kept his 141,000 Instagram followers updated with his day-to-day well-being and managed to head into the English countryside between treatments at the weekend for a breath of fresh air.
But it didn’t come without a sick night for Jonnie, who revealed he’d been riding his bike after taking a lot of medication.

Jonnie wrote on his social media profile: “After a hot night of soreness, I dosed up PKs and was able to enjoy the beautiful lakes via E-MTB.
“I’ll probably pay for it later, but grateful for the window, the company, and the weather.
“It’s only my second time renting a machine, but I’m thrilled! #the lakes.’
He also took to his Instagram Stories to tell his fans, “After a horrible night’s sleep, pacing and getting pain meds… oh it was just horrible. It’s a beautiful day.

“So I’ve got a steroid in me and some more painkillers and I’m determined to make the most of it.”
The TV star recently enjoyed a family trip to Marrakech and has been keeping fans updated about the trip via social media.
Jonnie shared a clip of the Moroccan city’s beautiful scenery on Thursday, leaning over the man who was driving him to take the shot while joking, “Let me know if it makes you uncomfortable.”
It comes after he revealed he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in August 2020, which then spread to his brain.

And A Place In The Sun decided not to renew his presenting contract after the news as they claimed they couldn’t get the right insurance for him to travel for the show.
Jonnie shared a collection of videos on his Instagram Stories showing the scenery from his car window.
Jonnie announced last month that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020 and has just 6 months to live.
And the presenter was heartbroken after revealing the diagnosis to his bosses on the show A Place In The Sun – who then dropped him from the hosting role.

Free Form Productions, who are making the program, said they were “unable to secure adequate insurance coverage” to allow him to continue filming internationally amid the Covid-19 crisis and said they were “resolving his frustration” understand about the decision.
A statement released to Web said: “Jonnie has been an extremely important part of the A Place In The Sun family for over 18 years and we were all deeply saddened by his diagnosis.
“Loved dearly by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid, however the production company were unable to secure adequate insurance coverage for him.
“Although we were unable to continue filming with him abroad, we are delighted that he has been able to remain part of our team in the UK for exhibitions. Of course we understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time.
The former real estate agent’s TV career began in 2004 when he was selected from hundreds of applicants to co-present with Jasmine Harman on Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun.
He was the longest serving host on the program alongside Jasmine who is still with the show.
