There hasn’t been a villain quite like Carminha since Avenida Brasil (2012), brilliantly interpreted by Adriana Esteves. But ten years after the phenomenon, João Emanuel Carneiro wrote a villain who seems to have drunk at the source of his most famous villain: the perfidious Vanessa (Leticia Colin) from All Flowers has drawn attention with so many barbarities. And the actress admits she had the approval of her own inspiration: “She gave me her blessing.”
Vanessa has done quite a bit in the original soap opera Globoplay. She made up that her cancer returned after the bone marrow transplant, says her baby’s father is Rafael (Humberto Carrão) when in fact it’s Pablo (Caio Castro) blackmailed her own mother, Zoé (Regina Casé), into being Maíra (Sophie Charlotte) out of the way and sent the imam himself to the farm where people are enslaved.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing a villain of this caliber, a real villain. And Vanessa is very complex, so full of possibilities and aspects,” says Leticia.
The actress, a selfconfessed novelist, also sees similarities between her character and the anthology Carminha, who was outspoken, mocking and even funny just like Maira’s evil sister.
“In the end, we remember her work because she became an archetype of our television drama. Adriana Esteves is a reference for me, I’m a fan. I had the honor to record with her in another telenovela [Segundo Sol, de 2018]🇧🇷 She gave me her blessing as a villain, as a super actress and I’m so happy. I think nothing compares to Adriana’s work, the character stayed, became an eternal character,” she says.

As with Tufão’s wife (Adriana Esteves), the lack of love as a child may have contributed to Vanessa’s bad nature:
She suffers a lot because she didn’t have affection, she didn’t have love. This is very serious in educating people, isn’t it? She had a mother who raised this daughter to make money, to be successful, to have power. Vanessa grew up in an environment with no love, no belief in herself, and she wants things to come through others, right? Vanessa clung to these distorted values of power, money, manipulation.
end of the first season
All Flowers will have the release of the two new and final blocks of the season closest to the 7th and 14th, with the rest not coming out until April.
This week Globoplay made available episodes 31 to 35 in which Maira is taken from the human trafficking farm by Zoé. She is taken to her mother’s apartment when she is pregnant, but later locked in a kitchenette.
Vanessa and Humberto (Fabio Assunção) even see the visually impaired woman from afar. So Zoé swaps captivity. At the end of the last chapter, alerted by Judite, Rafael investigates the existence of a criminal organization that practices human trafficking and also discovers the whereabouts of Maíra. From his car he sees her in the window of his captivity.
