“Sesame Street” actor Bob McGrath dies at the age of 90

American actor Bob McGrath, best known for his role on the popular children’s series Sesame Street, died on Sunday at the age of 90.

It was the actor’s family who announced the sad news on social media.

“Hello Facebook friends, The McGrath family has sad news to share. Our father, Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family,” we read in the publication on the actor’s website.

Known for his role as Bob Johnson on Sesame Street, he is said to be the longest-serving human character on the American series, along with Loretta Long in the role of Susan Robinson.

He has also written several children’s books.

In Canada, Bob McGrath spent 38 years contributing to Telemiracle, a telethon broadcast annually by CTV networks in Saskatchewan. In 2006 she was presented with the Saskatchewan Centennial Commemorative Medal by the provincial Lieutenant Governor Lynda Hverstock for her service. In 2013 he received the Saskatchewan Distinguished Service Award. This award was presented to him by then Prime Minister Brad Wall.
