According to Russian online news channel Telegram Baza, an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed into the runaway airfield at Russia’s Engels-1 airbase in Saratov Oblast, which Russia is using to launch mass missile attacks on Ukraine and particularly its energy infrastructure.

As a result, two Tu-95 strategic bombers were damaged and two Russian soldiers were hospitalized, Russian broadcaster Astra Telegram reported.

Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko posted a video on Telegram purporting to show the attack.

Meanwhile, the Russian propaganda news agency RIA reported that a fuel tanker exploded near Ryazan, 200 km (125 miles) from Moscow.

Three people were reportedly killed and another six injured.

An aircraft was also reportedly damaged in the incident, although no further details were given.

Engels Air Force Base is located 750 km (465 miles) from the border with Ukraine.

On December 1, German news outlet Der Spiegel reported that Russia’s Engels-2 airbase, also in Saratov Oblast, was placed on high alert.
