VANCOUVER | The controversy surrounding Carey Price’s gun registry post carried over to the Canadiens’ locker room on Monday. According to head coach Martin St-Louis and his teammates, the goalkeeper was unaware of the Polytechnique shooting that happened 33 years ago.

Although not directly related to hockey, the players and head coach were questioned about it after morning practice, which took place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
“It was brought to my attention,” Martin St-Louis said when questioned by the journal’s rep about Price’s publication.
“I’m not sure Carey is aware of the whole story that took place (at the Polytechnic). I remember it very well because I was a boarder at Collège Notre-Dame. I was 14 and it really shook me.

“I don’t think people outside of Quebec know the full story. »
Then he talked about the human side of Price. “He’s a sensitive guy and a family man,” added the Canadiens coach. I believe he did so without malice. »
Inform better?
Apparently, Price didn’t know what was happening in Quebec in 1989. One of the worst murders in Canadian history.
Even if he has lived in Montreal for fifteen years. Again, St-Louis refused to throw the stone at him.
“It’s an event that dates back to 1989. How old was Carey in 1989? Two years he answered the colleague from TVA Sports. I think he was in a playpen in the living room.
“I don’t think he realized what happened in Quebec at the time. »
Behind Carey
Joel Edmundson and Cole Caufield clicked on the little heart next to their teammate’s Instagram post over the weekend.
“We all know Carey’s personality,” Edmundson said. He has always loved hunting. It’s one of his passions. It’s a shame people misinterpret this post.
“We know what a good person Carey is. I don’t think he wanted to put people in a bad position or into controversy. I stand behind Carey.
“I’m convinced that he didn’t know like all of us what happened in Quebec more than 30 years ago. The anniversary date is getting closer. This is news to all of us, to be honest.
“I think it’s gotten too big. »
“He has his opinion”
Caufield seemed uncomfortable when asked about Price.
“I’m trying to stay away from that and focus on hockey,” said the small forward. Carey is a family man and a good person. He has his opinion.
“I don’t think he had bad intentions with this release. It’s important to know a little about the history of the province and to respect the people who live there. »
At the end of the day, Price responded on his Twitter account. He has not resigned from his opposition to the Weapons Register Act. However, he made it clear that he didn’t mean it to be disrespectful to anyone.
He also added that he disagreed with the infamous promo code.
