He told the Mirror: “I’m on the road to recovery now. There are a few complications to sort out, so the follow-up has already started.’

Psychic Russell said he foresaw health problems for himself three years ago but kept his foreshadowing relatively quiet.

He explained: “As you know, I saw something pretty big coming when I gave my talk in Blackpool on December 1st 2019, so I was prepared.

“I wasn’t yelling about the growth as I was awaiting knee surgery due Easter 2020 so many of you would have assumed I was going to get into it.

“Covid ruined that. So it’s next on my list of things to do.’

Russell suffered heartbreak last year after his beloved mother Jo died of coronavirus at the age of 93.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant said his mother was holding her granddaughter Joanna’s hand at the time of her death.

Russell shared a picture of himself with his mother on Instagram last January, writing, ‘It is with deep and genuine sadness my brother Garry and I must announce that our beloved mother Jo passed into a better world yesterday.’

He added: “Nanny Jo was with her beloved granddaughter Joanna – Jo by name, Jo by nature: a chip-off-the-old book – who was holding her grandma’s hand and gently helping her yesterday and her onto the other side led afternoon.’

Grant added another tribute on Facebook, writing: “Those who knew our mother were embraced by her force of nature, which brought sunshine to the many she met.

“In the winter of her life, at age 93, the light that ignited her for nine decades was finally extinguished by these dark times.”

He also commended the NHS staff who had been caring for Jo at West Herts Hospitals for their “selfless dedication”.
