Jack began his post by saying he preferred to stay out of the spotlight since his parents split. McDermott was married to Eustace for 13 years. Jack was just seven years old when Dean left Mary Jo for his Mind Over Murder co-star Tori in 2005.

“Since my parents’ divorce in 2006, I’ve rarely spoken up as I’ve preferred to stay out of it. Unfortunately, due to my mother’s recent decision to spread information about my father, stepmother and siblings, I can no longer remain silent.

“About a week ago my dad made the decision to retire from his podcast with my mom. He decided to leave due to negative comments about our family and constant attempts to defame his character.

“He also decided to leave because the show’s producer betrayed his trust and leaked private information,” explained Jack.

“For 17 years, my father has atoned for mistakes he made in the past. He’s grown a lot as a person. Our two families were there until a week ago [sic] live in harmony. With this podcast, he drove a wedge between our two families and created a rift that I can’t mend. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if it can be,’ he continued.

He concluded by saying he hopes everyone who listens to the podcast will take the information “with a grain of salt.”

Jack also made a request to his mother, writing: “I ask that you respect me and my blended family. Please avoid adding additional strain to our family dynamics.”

“The last few years have been nothing but peace and happiness and I ask that we continue to try to keep it that way,” he said at the end of his statement.

Jack’s testimony came after Eustace did a third episode of the podcast without Dean last week and discussed what she thought went wrong.

She claimed that it was another interview the two did together to promote the show that caused the fallout.

In the interview, Dean and Mary Jo were asked how she discovered his affair with Tori Spelling after the duo met while filming a 2005 Lifetime movie.

“We were on a family vacation with another couple and that other couple ended up selling the story to all the tabloids … Dean was aloof during the vacation. I said, “Have you met anyone?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “Was it Tori?” I said, “Have you slept with her?” He said yes.” He said, “She’s my soul mate, we love each other.”

Frustrated by the story being revisited, Dean decided to leave the interview, reportedly telling Eustace on Thanksgiving night that he was also leaving the podcast.

Mary Jo will continue the podcast alone and said: “We wish Dean love and light and who knows maybe there will be another reunion here. That’s what we have left and there’s no way we’re giving that up [podcast].’

Following Jack’s post, a source told PEOPLE: “I’m sure it’s very hurtful for Mary Jo to hear her son speak negatively of her. Unfortunately, the facts stand that it was Dean who was unfaithful and left Mary Jo and the children and then unfaithful to Tori again.

“It was Mary Jo who did 90 percent of the upbringing and was a loving and consistent mother. Aside from that, she respects Jack’s right to express himself. And always will.’

Dean and Spelling share sons Liam, 15, Finn, 10, and Beau, 5, and daughters Stella, 14, and Hattie, 11.

Last year, the couple sparked divorce rumors after Dean wasn’t featured on the annual Christmas card, a few months after the star revealed they were having marital troubles.

The couple recently made a very rare sighting along with their children while watching Hollywood Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Los Angeles in October, after it was claimed in June that they were going to have a “trial breakup” after many ups and downs depths.
