The Ontario winger was an accomplice to John Tavares’ goal in the first half. Remember, Marner has the longest streak of its kind in Queen City team history.

On the other hand, the spectacular Jason Robertson saw his streak of 18 games end with at least a point.

The Leafs could count on Matt Murray of the good days between their posts. He stopped each of the Stars’ 44 attempts, while Jake Oettinger was defeated four times by 29 shots.

Auston Matthews and Rasmus Sandin betrayed his vigilance. Alexander Kerfoot threaded the needle into an empty net to nail the Texas coffin.
