Two men in combat fatigues hang Russian flags on the front door of the Kreminna City Hall building, another has his machine gun slung over his shoulder and is talking to the camera. The message sent by the Luhansk People’s Militia via Telegram: The city is “completely” under the control of “People’s Republic” units.
Kreminna was attacked from all sides, says Luhansk region governor Serhiy Gaidai. Ukrainian forces would have to withdraw and move to new positions.
The small town with originally 18,000 inhabitants is located in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine. In other words, where Russia launched a major offensive a few days ago to take over all of Donbass.
A large part of Luhansk is now also under Russian control, Gaidai said. on Telegram on Wednesday night. Russian units would control 80% of the area.
