In a previous message dated Thursday, the Quai d’Orsay “strongly” advised its citizens to leave the country.
As the Russian invasion of Ukraine lasted ten days, the Foreign Office issued a new warning about French citizens in Russia. In a new post posted on its website this Saturday, the Quai d’Orsay “calls” “strongly urges French citizens whose presence and their families’ presence in Russia is not mandatory to leave the country while still possible”, taking into account the “growing lack of air communication.
“In the conditions created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the application of international sanctions announced against this country and the tightening of criminal legislation, it is necessary to exercise increased vigilance,” the ministry reminds.
“Travel from or to Russia is severely hampered due to airspace closures between Russia and European Union member states,” adds Quai d’Orsay.
On Thursday, the ministry raised its level of vigilance, “strongly” recommending that its citizens, whose presence and the presence of their families in Russia is not mandatory, leave the country.
