ANALYSIS – The country will soon be able to produce two nuclear weapons in two different locations.
It’s another major international crisis, largely overshadowed by the Russian war in Ukraine, but one that has equally thwarted all diplomatic efforts. This crisis has turned in Iran’s favor for the moment.
On nuclear cusp for several months at the Natanz power plant, Iran is now producing 60% enriched uranium at another facility, at Fordo. This expansion of the military program, recently confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), means the country will soon be able to produce two nuclear bombs at two different sites. When the Iran Nuclear Treaty (JCPOA) was alive, until 2018, Iran’s breakout time, the time it takes to produce a nuclear weapon after the decision was made, was 12 months. Today is… only four days.
Because there is no Plan B, American and European leaders refuse…
