“We are convinced that the realization of these projects will mark a milestone in the history of relations between Grenada and Cuba,” he said.

In his statements, the President of the Republic also thanked the support Cuba had received in the fight against the unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Greater Antilles, as well as First Minister Mitchell’s strong condemnation during the last Session of the United Nations General Assembly, prior to Cuba’s inclusion on the list of countries that support terrorism.

The most important thing now, he stressed, is that “our work teams, technical teams, our ministers are working together to channel, promote and implement everything that we have proposed”.

Referring to the talks held minutes earlier with the Cuban delegation, the Grenadian Prime Minister explained that “they have turned their attention to different areas of cooperation, including health, infrastructure, education, agriculture, environment and climate change, as well as the need for sustainable to build societies in the future”.

Both sides demonstrated their “willingness to further strengthen friendly relations in the future”.

Grenada, he assured, reiterated its firm support “for the lifting of the US blockade imposed on Cuba and also for its classification as a country that promotes terrorism”.

Regarding this position taken by his country, he recalled that this is not only a position of Grenada but of the entire Caribbean community, as confirmed at the VIII CARICOM-Cuba Summit in Barbados.

On the other hand, he stated that “in the coming months, technical and government delegations from Grenada will travel to Cuba to further explore the areas of cooperation”.
