Anna Kendrick has been pushed to her breaking point by a mentally abusive boyfriend in a new trailer released for thriller Alice, Darling on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old actress portrays the title character, who is trapped in an abusive relationship with boyfriend Simon, played by Charlie Carrick, after recently being in a psychologically abusive relationship herself.
The Alice, Darling trailer began with Alice meeting up with her friend Tess [Kaniehtiio Horn] and Sophie [Wunmi Mosaku] at a bar.

They invited her on a week-long getaway to celebrate a birthday.
Alice looked nervous when they asked if she would come along and was then shown practicing an apology for her boyfriend.
She took Simon for a walk and told him she had to go to a ‘sales thing’ that was coming up.
“We just want you to relax,” Sophie told Alice during the birthday outing.

“Relax in what way?” Alice asked.
Alice then spoke privately to Simon on the phone and later told her friends that she had to leave earlier.
“Since when is he more important to you than us?” Tess asked her.

Alice then suffered from trichotillomania as she pulled on clumps of hair that landed gently on the floor.
Simon then made a surprise appearance after learning Alice’s whereabouts by reading her email.
“No one loves you like I love you. My beauty, girls,’ said Simon, as pictures showed Alice trying to gain some freedom.

Alice, Darling premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Alice, Darling is directed by English filmmaker Mary Nighy, 38, who makes her directorial debut with the thriller.
