Washington, April 21 (.).- US President Joe Biden announced this Thursday that he will ban Russian ships from docking in the country’s ports and announced a new $800 million military aid package for Ukraine . (735.9 million euros).

Biden said from the White House that the aid includes heavy artillery, howitzer guns and more tactical drones.

“We are and will continue to share important and timely information to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression,” he added.

He also announced that he would ban Russian ships from docking in US ports and from accessing his country’s coasts, a measure similar to one already adopted by Europe.

Biden has criticized the brutality of Russian forces in Ukraine and stressed that the most important thing is that the international community remains united against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The US President warned that Putin is counting on Western unity to be “cracked”, so it is important to show him he is “wrong”.

The White House reported that minutes before his speech, Biden received Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal, who was traveling to Washington, at the President’s residence.

The military aid announced today comes a day after Washington unveiled a fresh set of sanctions against a network of 40 individuals and companies led by Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev, who are said to be helping Russia dodge Western sanctions over the war in Ukraine.
