Chris Cuomo gives Ted Cruz the olive branch while his daughter recovers

Chris Cuomo hands Ted Cruz the olive branch while his daughter recovers from self-inflicted wounds… and claims his own family was being stalked by paparazzi when he was fired from CNN

  • Cuomo said he no longer swings for Cruz or other Republicans he doesn’t like
  • He said he’s had a “challenging year” and that his family has been victimized by “paparazzi and keyboard warriors.”
  • Cuomo was fired from CNN after he was caught counseling his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, through a sexual harassment scandal
  • According to his CNN bosses, it was a breach of ethics as one of the network’s highest-paid journalists
  • Cruz’s 14-year-old daughter was taken to the hospital on Tuesday with self-inflicted wounds

Chris Cuomo passed an olive branch to Ted Cruz last night and sent his well-wishes to the family as Cruz’s daughter recovers from self-inflicted wounds, while claiming his own family was persecuted when he was fired from CNN.

Cuomo, who now works at NewsNation, said he no longer “swings” for Republicans like Cruz or any of his old enemies like he did at CNN because now he knows how it feels.

“I don’t hit out at Cruz or any of the players like I used to, there’s a personal reason too.

“I’ve had a challenging year, but in some ways it’s been more difficult for my family.

“They paid a price for no good reason – actually for bad reasons: paparazzi and keyboard warriors.

“Because of my decision to help my brother, they were put in a bad position and forced to take responsibility for things they had nothing to do with,” he said.

He was referring to his firing by CNN after it was revealed he had advised his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on a sexual harassment scandal that cost him his office.

Cuomo, who was CNN’s primetime anchor, then moved to the Hamptons.

When he left CNN, he became embroiled in a bitter fight over money with bosses like former President Jeff Zucker.

“We are too mean to too many. I didn’t see this coming and it’s killing me.

“And as someone who grew up with bullying and all that good stuff because he was my daddy, you’d think I knew better.

“But I’ve done it to mine too, and I hate it, so I don’t do the job the same way because I want to try to limit the anger that comes for a bad reason,” he said.

“I hope the Cruz family gets through whatever happens, that’s not what the moment is for.

“Of course, his child’s name and situation should be kept out of anyone’s mouth and head.

“But keep it in your heart because now that it’s working too many are saying the right thing.

“But then the same people, too many of them for sure, play the game in an ugly way – they skew the truth for win or clicks and choose to be negative to gain an advantage.

“Yes, Ted Cruz is asking for attacks with the way he plays. And yes, he’s too often not how he’d like people to be dealing with his family now. But that’s his business. I say to anyone who expresses sympathy for the Cruz family, consider how unsympathetic they usually are.’

Cruz’s 14-year-old daughter was rushed to hospital Tuesday night after suffering self-inflicted wounds.

He has not released a personal statement, but his representatives confirmed that she is “fine” and will make a full recovery.
