In fact, behind the only winning ticket of the drawing on Tuesday evening were several winners who had contributed to a common fund. Everyone should get almost 900,000 euros.
One for all, all for one ! The staggering €143 million EuroMillions jackpot was won in Belgium on Tuesday night. Only one winning ticket but 165 happy. These residents of the municipality of Olmens in the Antwerp region of Belgium had made the bet to play the European lottery together. Each had invested €15 in a cash register organized by local De Pershoek before betting on the same combination: 12, 20, 25, 26 and 27, with the additional numbers 8 and 12.
Everything was organized according to the rules of the art by Wim, the tobacconist behind the company. The treasury of 142,897,164 euros will indeed be divided into 165 equal parts of almost 900,000 euros, explained Joke Vermoere, spokesman for the Belgian National Lottery, to our colleagues from La Libre Belgique. “Wim will come to our headquarters in Brussels,” explains Joke Vermoere. He then has to initiate the payment through the banks of the various winners. Everything was done very cleanly and correctly here. »
However, the winners were not at the first attempt. Wim regularly suggested to his regulars to bet together, but this is the first time the investment has paid off. “Our customers are still in disbelief, I often have to tell them five or six times,” Wim Van Broekhoven told Radio2 Antwerp.
But before Olmens residents can get their money and spend as they please, they have to wait a little longer. “The National Lottery has to wait for the money from the consortium of the different lotteries, but that can easily happen. We estimate that the large sum can be deposited by the end of the week. “The distribution then takes place across the board to each winner,” explains Joke Vermoere to VRT.

A similar story has already happened in France. On December 13, 2019, a family from Haute-Vienne pocketed the sum of 13 million euros before dividing it among its members. A great stroke of luck, because they had made a mistake when they had ticked their grandchildren’s dates of birth. Instead of 7 and 9, they accidentally ticked 6 and 8.
