On Tuesday, two identical crimes that the police are investigating were committed in two locations 3,500 kilometers apart. One in Lloret de Mar, a city in Catalonia, Spain, starring Russian entrepreneur Sergey Protosenya, and the other in Moscow, committed by Vladislav Avayev, a former Kremlin official and former vice president of Gazprombank. The two Russian millionaires are accused of killing his wife and daughter before taking their own lives, Niusdiario reports.
In the first case, according to reports from La Vanguardia and other Iberian media, investigators suspect that Protosenya, 55, may have killed his wife, 53, and daughter, just 18, with an ax while they slept. The first alert about the possibility that tragedy might have struck was the couple’s other son, a 22-year-old boy who lives in France. The family would go to Lloret de Mar to spend the Easter holidays. Protosenya held senior positions at Novatek, a gas company. In the second case, however, Avayev (51) was found dead in his apartment in Moscow with his wife, 47, and his 13-year-old daughter, killed by a few shots. According to British media reports citing Tass, it was the eldest daughter Anastasia, 26, who found the bodies of Avayev, his wife Yelena and younger daughter. The young woman was concerned and could not reach the family. Going into the apartment, she finds that the door was locked from the inside, a circumstance that leads the police to hypothesize a murder-suicide.
There are those who, as reported by testimonies collected by the Daily Mail, also hypothesized that the affair could be related to a financial crisis following the tightening of Western sanctions: maybe he killed himself for it, maybe he was overwhelmed with debt. All are depressed, some even make extreme gestures, said a neighbor. With rumors that speak of a possible relationship between the wife and the driver of the banker who has been fired for a long time, not even a trace of jealousy can be ruled out for the time being. He was an intelligent man, almost the head of Gazprombank. He had no reason to. He was rich, intelligent. It’s not possible for a man like that to kill himself. Awayev and his family may have been killed, another family acquaintance added.
