Love And Thunder trailer released

Love And Thunder trailer released

Though many Marvel fans were excited when the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer finally arrived, others were less excited. In fact, some Twitter users appear to have berated actor Chris Pratt for homophobia after the trailer launched. It seems that a joke in the trailer was the reason for the naming.

As those who have seen the footage will know, there is a moment where Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord, is speaking to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. He gives the following advice:

“Do you ever feel lost? Just look into the eyes of the people you love.”

While Thor takes this advice and looks Star-Lord straight in the eyes, Star-Lord has the opposite reaction.

“Not me,” says Star-Lord.

Thor responds as follows:

“What? Just listen.”

Now, Twitter users are blaming Chris Pratt for the line, insisting the actor is homophobic over his delivery. One tweet in particular has garnered well over 100,000 likes at the time of this writing. In fact, many of these tweets have garnered tens of thousands of likes, suggesting many of these Twitter users feel the same way. As you can see below:

This all dates back to early 2019, when Chris Pratt was first called homophobic for attending Hillsong Church. Of course, Chris Pratt has since denied that he or his church hold homophobic views, and he’s consistently emphasized that he wants to be open and loving with everyone. Despite this, certain Twitter users still seem to have a desire to target Chris Pratt and label the actor as homophobic. It’s particularly odd that they chose a scene from Thor: Love and Thunder to express this as well, considering it would have been written and directed by people other than Chris Pratt. And yet Chris Pratt finds himself at the center of all controversy.

So it will be interesting to see how this backlash continues when Chris Pratt returns for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 next year.
