THAT Germany A suspect in the disappearance of the British girl is charged this Thursday, 21 Madeleine McCann. The charges came at the request of the judiciary of Portugal, the country where Madeleine was vacationing with her parents when she disappeared without a trace, in a case that has fascinated the world since 2007.
Although the suspect’s identity has not been officially released, it is believed to be the accused Christian Brueckner, a repeat German pedophile who is the main bet of the German authorities. The man was nominated on Wednesday, April 20.
German authorities have claimed since 2020 to have evidence of the murder of Madeleine, who disappeared in Portugal when she was 3 years old. At this point, the prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig began to regard Brückner, who was incarcerated on another case, as a suspect.

According to German investigators, Christian Brückner was living a few kilometers from the hotel in Praia da Luz where the girl disappeared at the time of the crime. He is currently serving a prison sentence for the 2005 rape of a 72yearold American man in the South Portugal.
Madeleine McCann, known as Maddie, disappeared on May 3, 2007, just before her fourth birthday, in Praia da Luz, a tourist destination in southern Portugal, where her parents were vacationing with a group of friends.
Her disappearance has sparked an extraordinary international campaign to find her. Photos of the girl with brown hair and light eyes went around the world.
After 14 months of investigations, in which the parents became the main suspects, the Portuguese police closed the case in 2008. He was reinstated five years later. /AFP
