“Beautiful”, “visually stunning”, “a breathtaking spectacle”… The international press has not skimped on superlatives to describe the new film in the saga avatar, landing on our screens this Friday.

As soon as the critics’ ban was lifted, on Tuesday afternoon, the first reactions to the film began to pile up on social networks. Aside from some mixed reviews in some media, filmmaker James Cameron’s new offering has received a concert of praise.
“It was worth pining over a decade for Pandora: Cameron delivered the biggest movie since, well, Avatar!” wrote the New York Post on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Times speaks of a new film that is “even more ambitious than the first” and will silence all skeptics.
“James Cameron immerses us so deeply in his universe that at times we feel as if we’re not watching a film but floating in it,” says the Los Angeles Times critic.
The same story on the Rolling Stones magazine page, which has no hesitation in describing Avatar: The Way of the Water as “James Cameron’s most amazing cinematic journey to date.”
Opinions are also very positive on the part of France, where the film opens this Wednesday.
“Cameron, a hydrophilic filmmaker, dives back into the bathtub and relegates Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to the rank of muddy aquarium. At the same time as the Sully family, the viewer discovers a fabulous marine bestiary,” writes the newspaper Le Figaro.
Paris Match Magazine was also blown away by the beauty of the universe created by James Cameron: “At a time when the collective and sacred experience of cinema is being subverted by streaming platforms and new digital uses, Avatar: The Waterway offers a unique immersion , [et] gives the word miracle a cinematic meaning,” we read there.
It remains to be seen whether Avatar: The Way of the Water will break new records at the box office…
