Blake Shelton gets emotional about leaving ‘The Voice’ when he meets wife Gwen Stefani: ‘I’ve won the ultimate prize’

When Blake Shelton signed on to be a judge on NBC’s “The Voice,” little did he realize he was walking away with a nine-time championship, a lifetime of memories, and the greatest gift of all — his singer-songwriter wife Gwen Stefani.

“’The Voice’ has changed my life in a million ways. Most importantly, I met Gwen Stefani as a coach on the show, and now she’s my wife,” Shelton told Fox News Digital after the season 22 finale.

Shelton will have one final spin on his big red judge’s chair in season 23, but this will be his last time training with his wife on The Voice.

“She said, ‘That’s it, we’re never going to do that again, you know?’ … it was bittersweet.”

In 2014, Shelton and Stefani met during the first season of The Voice. At the time, both were dating their former partners Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale.

In the summer of 2015, the two separated from their respective marriages and then began a romantic relationship in November of the same year.

Five years later, “Nobody But You” singer Stefani proposed in October 2020.

Shelton has continued to be open about his relationship with the former No Doubt singer, noting that he’s leaving The Voice with the best gift of all.

“I won the ultimate award for ‘The Voice.’ I don’t think anyone has had a bigger win than me,” he said.
