A preschooler brought a tequila drink to school and shared it with four other classmates last week, school officials told parents.

According to the website Telemundo Chicago, the case happened in Michigan, USA.

A spokesman for the school described the drink as “a singleserve premixed alcoholic drink that was marketed as adult soda.”

Alexis Smith, one of the mothers of a girl who received the drink, said she was surprised when the school called her to say her daughter had been drinking alcohol.

Smith said the school could not give him an answer at this time. He also said that his daughter will not return to this school out of concern.

A school spokesman released a statement: “School officials became aware of the drinking and immediately responded to the situation, which included consultations with poison control healthcare professionals and calls to parents of affected children.”

In a letter to parents, the school also said disciplinary action would be taken.

According to the information, the unit also stated that none of the children required medical attention, but the school team had consulted medical professionals as a preventive measure.
