The Grinch is fined for carpooling

In the US, all you need is another passenger in your car to take a fast lane reserved for carpooling… but inflatable dolls, even with the likeness of the Grinch, don’t count, Arizona police were forced to remind a daring motorist before Christmas.

An official in the western US state last week pulled over a motorist who was “driving in the carpool lane with a Seuss Pect passenger,” the Public Safety Department joked on Twitter Tuesday, citing writer Dr. Seuss, creator of Spoilsport.

After carefully examining the cabin, it turned out that the accompanying greenish complexion was an inflatable version of this monster whose mission is to ruin Christmas.

Finally, in the children’s book, the Grinch loves the people of Chouville, who continue their celebrations even without the gifts he stole.

But a few days before the celebrations at the end of the year, the police officer was undeterred: the driver walked away with a formal fine.

“If we appreciate the festive mood, this is illegal,” the administration reminded in its statement.
