A pilot exits his fighter jet after a failed landing

The pilot had to exit his cockpit in an emergency after missing his vertical landing.

A pilot ejected from a fighter jet during a failed landing at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, was reported by several American media outlets, including NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. The spectacular scene was mainly filmed by a passerby not far from the runway.

The pilot of the plane, who attempted a vertical landing with his plane, an F-35, jumps out of his cockpit after missing his manoeuvre. His parachute deployed immediately and he put one foot near the plane, which came to a halt.

“We are aware of the crash of the F-35B on the joint runway at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth and understand that the pilot successfully ejected,” Lockheed Martin said in a statement.

“Safety is our priority and we will follow the appropriate investigation protocol,” added the American aircraft manufacturer, which assembles the F-35B for the American army and shares a runway at the Texas military base.
