Michelle Williams plays the Portland sculptress in the new trailer for upcoming comedy-drama Showing Up.

Michelle Williams portrayed a Portland sculptor preparing for an exhibition in a new trailer released for comedy-drama Showing Up on Thursday.

The 42-year-old actress plays Lizzy Carr in director Kelly Reichardt, 58’s film, which marks their fourth collaboration together.

The trailer for the film, distributed by A24, began with Lizzy working on an artwork.

‘She’s gorgeous. I love the green stockings,’ said Jo Tran [Hong Chau] when Lizzy was working on her art.

Lizzy was then shown telling Jo that she didn’t have any hot water.

“My show starts on Friday and I’m free to tend to it afterwards,” Jo said while working on a garden swing.

‘I’ve got a show too, you know. You’re not the only one with a deadline,’ Lizzy said.

Lizzy spoke to retiree Bill, played by 87-year-old Judd Hirsch, and spoke to an artist digging a hole for an artwork.

The trailer showed a simmering rivalry between Lizzy and Jo, who is also her landlady.

Michelle and director Kelly previously collaborated on the 2008 film Wendy And Lucy, 2010 period film Meek’s Cutoff, and 2016 drama Certain Women.

Showing Up premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in May, competing for the Palme d’Or.

The trailer ended with a message that Showing Up is coming soon.
