A police officer in Florida, USA, was taken to the hospital after suffering an overdose while searching a vehicle stopped in the city of Tavares. Agent Courtney Bannick found fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, in a $1 bill.

According to the New York Post, Courtney wore gloves to manipulate narcotics throughout the approach, leading police to believe the exposure to fentanyl was airborne. A wind would have blown the drug in the policewoman’s face.

The officer overdosed and fell to the ground, unable to move. A camera on another agent’s uniform captured the moment. At the hospital, Courtney took three doses of Narcan, a type of drug that works against opioid receptors.

After the shock, the policewoman thanked her colleagues for the speed with which they helped her.

I’ve done it like this 100 times. Only once and a minimal amount. I’m grateful I wasn’t alone and got help right away,” she said.

“If the other officers hadn’t been there, it very likely would have been different today,” he added.
