Prince William takes ‘Harry & Meghan’ documentary ‘very personally’: royal expert

Prince William takes “Megflix” personally.

According to a royal expert, William is “incredibly upset and betrayed” by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan.

The final three episodes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series were released yesterday, with a slew of bombastic allegations against William – including that William yelled at Harry for abandoning his royal duties, William at the royal couple bullying, William conspiring with Markle’s Associated Newspapers lawsuit, William sent Harry what appeared to be a shocking text after the interview with Oprah Winfrey, and that William broke a pact never to share negative press stories about his brother.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight the allegations could mean there’s not a good chance of a reconciliation between Harry, 38, and William, 40.

“Well, I think given the allegations Harry has made so personally towards his brother in the last three episodes of this docuseries, I think it really belittles any chance [healing] a rift for the foreseeable future,” said Nicholl.

“Even though William hasn’t seen these documentaries, and I understand he hasn’t, he will be very aware of the headlines. He’s going to be very aware of the damage being done to his reputation and I think that also goes a long way towards explaining why the brothers aren’t talking to each other,” she continued.

A royal source told Page Six that William and Princess Kate, 40, haven’t seen “Harry & Meghan.”

Nicholl shared that the Prince of Wales felt “very badly betrayed” by his brother and was “incredibly upset” and “will take this very personally”. She also said William has concerns that any private conversations the two may have had could end up in Harry’s forthcoming memoir, Spare, which is out on January 10.

“I mean, this is a couple that’s never far from their iPhone, from their cameras that’s really been recording their lives for the past two years – I think there’s just a lot of distrust within the family,” explained Nicholl . “They just feel like there’s no reconciliation … in sight because they can’t trust it won’t end up in a TV show or in a book.”

“I think tempers are flaring, tempers are high. There’s a lot of tension, there’s a lot of excitement, there’s a lot of anger and resentment, and any reconciliation is really quite a long way off,” added the royal expert.

Nicholl believes Harry will ultimately regret releasing the docuseries because “there is every chance of a reconciliation with his family [is] almost impossible, certainly at some point in the near future.”

Prince Harry claimed in the docuseries that his brother yelled at him during a family reunion where he and 41-year-old Markle proposed a “half in, half out” arrangement in which they would have their own jobs but still have something to say about it Support from Queen would do Elizabeth.

“It was scary having my brother yelling and yelling at me and my dad saying things that just weren’t true and my grandmother sitting still and taking it all in,” he said.

Nicholl said she wasn’t too surprised to hear William “yelled at Harry” as the king “has a temper.”

“William can be quite stubborn but don’t forget that William was understandably very angry about what happened and how [it] “happened because Harry and Meghan essentially made a bombastic statement, the first of many more bombastic statements, when this couple announced they were stepping down as working royals,” she explained. “So yes, he would have been very upset and quite angry.”

Harry also claimed William “bullied” the royal family couple.

“As I got into the car after the meeting, I was told of a joint statement that had been released on my behalf and on my brother’s behalf, crushing the story that he had been bullying us out of the family,” he said.

“I could not believe it. No one had asked my permission to put my name under such a statement. And I rang the bell [Meghan] and I told her and she burst into tears. Because within four hours they happily lied to protect my brother and yet for three years they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us,” he continued.

In the final episode of the docuseries, Markle’s attorney, Jenny Afia, discussed Associated Newspaper’s 2021 lawsuit and the judge’s ruling in her favor.

“Then, as expected, Associated Newspapers appealed. As we were about to leave [to] the Court of Appeal, a senior member of the [William’s] The team came forward to give his testimony, which was not required, and unfortunately he simply could not have done so without the authority of his bosses,” Afia said of Jason Knauf, a former communications secretary for William.

The Netflix series showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at a friend’s flat discussing the situation, realizing Knauf should have gotten Williams’ permission.

“I know it’s your brother,” Markle said excitedly. “It’s your brother. I won’t say anything about your brother, but it’s so obvious that it’s like…”

“It’s even more obvious that they’re going to try to cover it up,” Harry added.

The documentary also captured the moment Harry received a text message from his brother following their infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Markle read Queen Elizabeth’s response into the camera as she cut to Harry, who wordlessly held out his phone to her.

“What am I looking at? Wow. He just got a text from his brother,” Markle said before hugging Harry, who said, “I wish I knew what to do.”

The documentaries did not say what was in the SMS.

Harry claimed that he and his brother also made a pact never to exchange negative press stories about one another – a pact that William broke.

“William and I both saw what happened in our dad’s office and we agreed that we would never let that happen in our office,” Harry says on the show. “I would much rather be destroyed in the press than play in this trading game or deal and see my brother’s office do the same thing we both promised never to do. That was heartbreaking.”

On the same day that the final three episodes of the docuseries were shelved, Prince William appeared to shadow Harry and Markle by sharing a quote from the late monarch about “togetherness” at Princess Kate’s Christmas carol concert.

During the service, William read a quote from Queen Elizabeth’s 2012 Christmas Message, recognizing the “selfless efforts of individuals, families and communities across Britain, and celebrating and showing the joy that human connection and togetherness can bring”.
