A trio of gangsters are accused of the horrific murder of a toddler who was fatally hit in the head by a stray bullet while napping in his car seat.
The boy’s mother was driving on a California freeway when her car was caught in the deadly crossfire. Her 23-month-old victim, Jasper Wu, was just weeks from turning two when he was fatally wounded.
The senseless crime occurred at 2 p.m. on November 6, 2021 during a shootout between two notorious rival San Francisco street crime gangs — Chopper City and Eddy Rock — on Interstate 880 in Oakland, California.
A single shot that came out of the Altima hit Wu’s family car and not the Infiniti, her intended target, prosecutors said.
The bullet went through the windshield, hitting and killing the toddler. The bullet was found in the seat under Jasper’s car seat, District Attorney Nancy O’Malley said.

Johnny Jackson, 28, (pictured) one of three gang members charged in the horrific murder of toddler Jasper Wu in an Oakland freeway shooting
The four gang members – Trevor Green, 22, Ivory Bivins, 24; and Johnny Jackson, 28 — were charged with murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle and a felon in possession of a firearm, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office announced during a news conference Thursday, ABC3 News reported.
The fourth suspect, Keison Lee, was killed in a separate shooting last month. Bivins and Green were also charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and conspiracy to commit a criminal street gang.
Green and Bivins, now in custody on other charges in Contra Costa County, will be transferred to Alameda County. Charges will be brought Friday against Jackson, who was arrested on a warrant Wednesday.
Lee, who was shot and injured in the Nov. 21 shooting, was killed in a shooting unrelated to gang violence last month, O’Malley said, CBS News reported.

The victim’s aunt, who cannot be identified, said Wu’s mother, Cherry Wu, was driving a white Lexus sedan southbound on Interstate 880 from San Francisco back to her home in Fremont when the tragedy occurred.
Little Jasper, who had been in a car seat in the back of the car, had been in the vehicle with other relatives, including three other children.
It’s not clear how old the other children are or if anyone else was injured during the shooting.
Wu’s father, Jihao Wu, and family spokesman Carl Chan appeared with other family members Thursday at the Rene C. Davidson courthouse in Oakland, California.
They all listened intently as California Highway Patrol Deputy Chief Jason Reardon announced the murder charges against his son’s killers.
District Attorney O’Malley said during the conference, “How did this terrible tragedy happen?” she said.
“It happened because two rival gangs on Highway 880 … exchanged gunfire on the other side of the highway at 2 p.m..”
