A 31-year-old Cuban was arrested in Miami as responsible steel at a Burlington store in Hialeah that went viral on social media because the thief left the store in a unique way, dragging the stolen items in his handsmany of them women’s handbags.
The subject identified as Alberto Daniel Cruz Hernandezappeared this Thursday before the Criminal Court of Miami-Dadewhere he was charged grand theft.
The local press highlights that the amount of what was stolen on November 25 – coinciding with Black Friday – amounts to about five thousand dollars.
Most of what was taken from the store were handbags, scarves and a few pairs of shoeswhich the defendant stole from various corridors of the facility, which is located at Avenida 20 3895 in the west of the city Hialeah.
“Our detectives followed leads, already knew who he was, and finally found him in Southwest County. noHe didn’t fight back or speak when they arrested him.”said Sgt. Jose Torres, a spokesman for the Hialeah Police Department.
Alberto Daniel Cruz Hernández has previous convictions for other robbery offenses, according to his public police file.
The defendant was posted bail of five thousand dollars and warned that he was forbidden from approaching the store where he committed the crime.
In late November, Miami-Dade County police asked the public for help in finding the subject’s identity after releasing images that showed a man grabbing everything he could at a store before he left through the front door of the store went lugging everything stolen.
The images showed that the subject not only carried a large number of bags with his left hand, but also carried two large bags in his right hand, which he filled with whatever he could.
Local surveillance cameras clearly filmed the face of Alberto Daniel, who was wearing a black sweater and cap at the time of the robbery and did not resort to any strategy to try to hide his face or make identification difficult.
