Quebec filmmaker Yan England is wrapping up filming on rematcha series for the Franco-German channel Arte that will bring together several international stars, including Christian Cooke, Aidan Quinn, Sarah Bolger, Luke Pasqualino and Tom Austen.
Described as a psychological thriller, co-developed and written by Quebec screenwriter André Gulluni (Sam, Roche Papier, Ciseaux) and England, the series will bring us to life the historic confrontation between world chess champion Garry Kasparov and IBM’s supercomputer Deep Blue, in 1997
Filming on Rematch, which took place in Montreal and Budapest this fall, wraps up this Thursday. Director Yan England (Sat, 1:54, Les Bracelets Rouges) was joined on set by some Quebec accomplices, including his cinematographer Jérôme Sabourin.
The air date for this series of six 52-minute episodes has not yet been announced.
