Quito, 12/15 The Quito International Book Fair (FILQ 2022) opened its gates this Thursday to welcome a multitude of authors from different countries of the world as part of the celebrations of the bicentenary of Ecuador’s independence.
The Cultural Secretary of the Municipality of the Ecuadorian capital, Juan Martín Cueva, inaugurated the fair, which will be open for eight days and will include workshops and lectures by authors from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Spain and France.
The Quito Book Fair is one of the largest cultural concentrations in the country as it also brings together the country’s publishing sector and the country’s best literatures.
“FILQ 2022 celebrates the bicentenary of independence. We are building a story based on gender, dissidence and resistance,” is the motto of the gathering, which will take place at various cultural venues in the capital such as the Metropolitan Cultural Center, the Contemporary Art Center and the Capitol and Variety Theater.
In this edition, the fair will host six pavilions dedicated to bookshops, children’s books, publishers, universities, independent graphics and antiquarian bookshops.
Among the international authors who will take part in the fair are the Chilean Lina Meruane, the Argentine Selva Almada, the Colombian Evelio Rosero, the Ecuadorian Ramiro Oviedo, the Bolivian Liliana Colanzi, the Spaniard Nerea Pallares, the Peruvian Kathy Serrano and the French Émile Bravo, among others.
The fair, which will last until December 22nd, will also host Ecuadorian authors who will debate reality with words. EFE
