There will be a little Félix Leclerc on the day of the private funeral of actor, singer and senator Jean Lapointe, which will be celebrated on Saturday morning at the Saint-Viateur church in Outremont. Félix Leclerc, a good friend of Mr Lapointe, had written a poem for him in 1980. This will be read by actor Benoît Brière and is one of the many honors presented to the artist who died on November 18th.

During the 2019 edition of the Les Oliviers Gala, Jean Lapointe received the Merci pour tout award, given for social and humanitarian commitment. The artist then confided that this recognition made him immerse himself in his memories, especially when his friend Félix Leclerc paid tribute to him by inviting him to his home in December 1980 to read him a poem he had written for him.
It is the same poem that Benoît Brière will read on Saturday morning during the funeral of the singer-songwriter who died last November, just days before he celebrated his 87th birthday. And it is these beautiful words from our amazing singer that were reflected in the souvenir bookmarks distributed at Jean Lapointe’s Ardent Chapel on Thursday evening.
Mr Lapointe had apparently been particularly affected by the phase: “He will continue to leave buoys well beyond his retirement [ce qui faisait allusion à la Maison Jean Lapointe dont il est le fondateur]. Jean Lapointe, the Generous. »

The ceremony begins at 11:00 am at the Saint-Viateur church in Outremont.
Among the people who will take up the microphone to pay one last respects to Jean Lapointe on Saturday morning during this funeral reserved for family members and close friends, we can count on his daughter Anne Elizabeth Lapointe. The one who often sang on stage with her famous father will sing a cappella La Complainte à mon frères, a piece sung by her father and covered by many artists.
Singer Marie-Élaine Thibert will sing Jean Lapointe’s popular song Si on chantait ensemble, whose eponymous album was released in 1983, and Les Fleurs Malades from 1991. Singer Frayne McCarthy will provide I Believe/What a Wonderful World.
Two of Jean Lapointe’s children, Jean-Marie and Marie-Josée, will also speak in honor of their father. On the political side, the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, and the former Prime Minister of Canada, Jean Chrétien, will also have their say.
Several well-known figures from Quebec are also expected at the Saint-Viateur church, including the President General of Quebecor, Pierre Karl Péladeau.
Although the ceremony is reserved for Jean Lapointe’s family and close friends, Quebecers can watch it all live while major networks cover the event.
