The matinee service was held at the Centennial Concert Hall, a performing arts center in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
“Jim Carr’s work wasn’t done yet. Cancer took it from us too soon. But what he has achieved is more than most people dare ask of life. Today we celebrate his legacy and say goodbye to our friend,” Mr. Trudeau responded on Twitter.
Mr Carr was Secretary of Natural Resources under Justin Trudeau’s cabinet from 2015 to 2018 before taking over as Head of the Department for International Trade until 2019. He was also MP for Winnipeg South Centre.
A private ceremony and funeral was held last Wednesday.
Remember that before entering politics, Jim Carr was President and CEO of the Business Council of Manitoba.
