The Penguins took the lead early in the third period thanks to Brock McGinn’s ninth goal. During the game, the Hurricaines suffered a turnover change that allowed the “Pens” to launch a quick counterattack that passed local goalkeeper Pyotr Kochetkov. Rickard Rakell also scored his 13th goal of the season.
The reaction from Roderick Brind’Amour’s men was quick with Brady Skjei’s net. Well positioned in front of the net, Jordan Staal completed the job with the winning goal. Derek Stepan has the net of the other winners.
Kochekov ended his night in victory by making 23 saves. For his part, Casey DeSmith faced 26 shots.
